The art of summer food pairing: tips and suggestions

food pairing

Summer is the perfect time to experiment with new flavor combinations.

The key to achieving refined pairings is understanding the characteristics of both the food and the wine and striving to harmonize them to the best effect. For instance, light and fresh dishes like tomato and mozzarella salads or seafood carpaccio pair beautifully with a dry and fruity white wine.

On the other hand, grilled meats and barbecue recipes truly shine when paired with red wines boasting spicy aromas and full-bodied flavors.

Let’s not forget about summer vegetarian offerings such as stuffed zucchinis or grilled eggplants, which often pair wonderfully with a rosé wine, accentuating the wine’s fruity aspects.

Remember, the balance of flavors is essential, and with a bit of experimentation, you can discover surprising pairings that will delight you during these hot days.

Tenuta San Marcello

tenuta san marcello

In 2007, Massimo and Pascale decided to fulfill a dream by relocating to San Marcello, in the Marche hinterland, to create a farm with a winery and kitchen.

Following the renovation of an old farmhouse and the planting of 4 hectares of vineyards, Tenuta San Marcello was born, with a focus on cultivating native Marche grape varieties: Verdicchio and Lacrima di Morro d’Alba.

The company adopts environmentally friendly practices and adheres to biodynamic principles, without the use of herbicides or chemical fertilizers. Harvesting is done manually, and pressing takes place within an hour to reduce the use of sulfites. The heat produced during fermentation is used to heat the water for the farm, which was obtained through the estate’s renovation.

Furthermore, in the last three years, Tenuta San Marcello has embraced traditional winemaking in qvevri, Georgian underground amphorae, which represent the highest expression of their philosophy, where the wine reflects the terroir, seasonality, grape variety characteristics, and the mood of the winemaker. Despite the small production, not exceeding 20,000 bottles, the company embodies the values of sustainable and quality agriculture, to enhance the distinctive grape varieties of Marche viticulture.

After the winery tour, you can embark on a delectable journey to tantalize your taste buds. All food and wine pairings are crafted by Osteria del Vignaiolo and are designed to provide you with a memorable culinary experience.
